Dr. Yale Popowich founded the Portland Plastic Surgery Group, the city’s first plastic surgery group practice. Active in his community, Dr. Yale Popowich has served on the boards of several community organizations, including the Oregon Ballet Theater (OBT).

The OBT’s mission is to inspire passion for dance in the minds of city and state residents. Since its inception in 1989, the organization has been committed to creating a platform for world-class ballet in the Portland community. One of the largest ballet organizations in Oregon, the OBT is rooted in classical ballet but includes influences from modern greats.
Its efforts include Dancers in Schools, a mentoring program that trains dancers to teach the art to students. Through the program, OBT offers a structured teaching program that prepares highly skilled dancers to become effective educators, imparting dance techniques to students in public and other school settings. The program employs a cohort style of teaching, allowing groups of dancers to progress together.
