In June 2020, the Portland Art Museum is scheduled to host the popular exhibit “Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism,” featuring some of the best-known contemporary Mexican artists. More than 100 iconic paintings, photographs, and other art objects make up the exhibit, which has attracted crowds at museums in Italy, Australia, and the United States.

The exhibit centers on the volatile but inspirational relationship between Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, two major contributors to the Modernista movement in Mexico. Visitors will be able to view some of the couple's most famous works, including Diego on my Mind and The Flower Vendor. The exceptional collection is rounded out with the work of other influential Mexican artists, such as María Izquierdo and David Alfaro Siqueiros.
